    The Knowledge Management Team:

    In 2004, Bain established its presence in the Indian market by opening the Bain Capability Center (BCC) in New Delhi. BCC has now expanded across regions as Bain Capability Network (BCN), to expand geographic coverage. The BCN plays a critical role in supporting Bain's case teams globally to help with analytics, research and knowledge management across all industries – for corporate cases, client development, private equity diligence or Bain intellectual property. Knowledge Management is critical to harness the best of our consulting staffs’ individual and collective expertise. For over 20 years, Bain’s practices have supported teams across the globe with industry, capability, and enabler expertise and knowledge.     The Role:

    This position is a full-time role supporting our Private Equity Practice with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region and some allocation to global projects. This role will be based in the Bain Capability Center in New Delhi.  Analysts play a critical role in supporting Bain’s ability to deliver outstanding results for our clients. We are looking for an individual who has a strong interest in working to apply analytics to add insights for our practice, improving our end-to-end knowledge management processes, and play a leadership role in coordinating with other practices


    Position Summary: 

    As part of your role, we will expect you to both help drive the Asia-Pacific PE practice, and lead some of our global projects. More specifically, your main goals will include:

    1. Drive content-specific custom analytics and reports, especially on the Asia-Pacific PE report
    2. Help streamline the APEG and global PEG practice, acting as the global tech / system leader, including on some initiatives like automation projects
    3. Help Partners and team members on selling and serving activities, with an active role on more complex requests or on customised client development
    4. Be a leader within the practice, managing people and acting like an owner

    Roles and Responsibilities:


    (A) IP/Expertise/PR support

    • Leads the development and analytics of the Asia-Pacific and country PE fact bases
      1. Ensures databases of private equity deals, exits, fundraising and performance for the Asia-Pacific region are fully maintained by junior resources
      2. Further automates the data gathering process
      3. Takes the lead on the codification, execution, analysis and codification of the Asia-Pacific PE survey
      4. Provides work direction to the team to develop and codify the country and Asia-Pacific PE fact bases. Brings strategic thinking regarding how to improve what we analyse and how we present it
      5. Supports Asia-Pacific PE report development and distribution
      6. Provides ad-hoc support to other country PE reports and client events
    • Drives ad-hoc content-specific custom analytics
      1. Identifies and executes on opportunities as they arise, for example:
        1. Due diligence (DD) to post-acquisition conversion tracking
        2. Share of portfolio work for priority clients

    (B) Practice management operations/knowledge systems

    • Owns and drives continuous streamlining of practice operations in Asia Pacific and globally
      1. Identifies other opportunities to enhance our processes, for example:
        1. Monthly operating dashboard metrics
        2. Due diligence to post-acquisition conversion and other post-acquisition related metrics
        3. Due diligence win/loss rate and statistics
      2. Delegates, coaches, and oversees standard practice operations tasks to junior resources as applicable
    • Acts as the global tech/system leader for the PEG practice
      1. Be the point of contact for LEAP – the automatized PEG knowledge management system
      2. Keeps leading the transformation and automation of our management processes and systems e.g. broadening to automation of our staffing processes, or post-acquisition experience gathering
    • Enhances the knowledge capture and content across areas like case start call, GXC enhancement
    • Ensures smooth delivery of Asia-Pacific revenue and pipeline reporting, bringing these to another level (especially Practice Area tracking); consider making it uniform across regions
      1. Supports regular APAC practice management activity (key training, meetings, account planning)

    (C) Selling / serving support

    1. Supports Asia-Pacific client-facing teams with targeted practice knowledge via ‘Rapid Response’ and proactive outreach, with a deeper focus on most complex request
      1. Supports the team in developing rapid responses, ensuring we can act as true advisors, asks the right questions to understand what the team is looking for, brings expertise to bear in responses, gets on a call
      2. Develops expertise beyond standard rapid response for most complex queries, typically around firm strategy or PE data sources

    2. Ensures high-impact, commercially valuable client development modules are developed

    • Creates tailored client-ready client development decks for Partners when required
    • Sets the prioritization process on what decks (e.g. credentials, portfolio success stories) to create / update, and manages team for the development
    • Helps the team to strategically improve the existing stock of slides i.e. Where are there gaps? How can the materials be made more compelling?
    • Ensures rigour in analysis (including Bain penetration)

    (D) Practice / PPK team

    1. Plays a mentor role with the PEG Knowledge Specialist (KS) and Knowledge Associate (KA) team
      1. Spends time and attention to coach the KS/KA in the APEG team and within global PEG to ensure they can thrive and develop further
      2. Plays an active role in reinforcing global PEG team cohesion
      3. Thinks like an owner; pushes boundaries of their own work; ensures team members’ proficiency in role
      4. Builds a track record of motivating and developing juniors
      5. Mentors one or more employee
    2. Be a role model in the PPK team
      1. Role models Bain operating principles; valued advisor and contributor on key PPK initiatives
      2. Leads cross PPK initiatives (e.g. training modules, etc.)
      3. Steers and directs highly effective meetings; creates clear, concise, and memorable presentations

    • Strong communication and presentation skills, i.e. ability to engage and lead a discussion with senior business executives within Bain    
    • BA/B.Com/ or equivalent undergraduate degree required with strong academic credentials

    • Excellent written and verbal ability: business-level English language skills requires
    • 6+ years experience (4+ years with relevant post graduate professional qualification e.g. MBA), ideally in a professional services firm environment, with exposure to one or more of the following disciplines: knowledge management, research, strategic planning, business development, consulting, marketing, product development, and/or project management
    • Organized and attentive to detail
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word and foundations in Alteryx and Tableau – or desire to learn new tools
