Bain Nordic currently has around 500+ employees, with approximately 60 playing a business support role.  As part of our growth in the Nordic we are looking to recruit a Manager for the Accounting in Copenhagen to play a core role in our Nordic business.

The role

 

The Account Manager will play a pivotal role in the Finance team. They will be responsible for Managing the Copenhagen Accounting team to prepare timely and accurate financial reporting, the assistance in development of internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and support the team with any issues/questions that arise during the monthly close.  Support and close collaboration with the controller is required to ensure proper application of global policies in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and global procedures to ensure the maintenance of adequate controls. This role will be based out of our Copenhagen office

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Accounting & Reporting:

  • Oversee a team of two-three employees responsible for payroll, tax, maintenance of general ledger, account reconciliations and financial reports of corporate entities. Responsible for reviewing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the team.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for Controller and Office Head use. Oversee the preparation and review of detailed audit schedules from local external auditor and global accounting teams.
  • Manage the local external audit process, liaising with the auditors to ensure all information is provided and questions answered
  • Ensure that we are compliant with local requirement for VAT, Social tax, tax withholdings and any statistical requirement from Danish authorities
  • Review any intercompany transaction to ensure accuracy
  • Work closely with the team to manage their workload and be part of the general accounting work in Copenhagen.
  • Audit and review the monthly payroll
  • Carry out various request from the US Accounting team
  • Work with the Office Controller on any ad-hoc projects and analyses that arise

Analysis:

  • Oversee/Review the preparation of monthly analysis of local office trial balances to ensure global consistency of accounting in accordance with Bain policies
  • Review trial balances and journal entries to ensure accuracy of transactions in corporate ledgers.

Internal Controls:

  • Draft documentation of procedures and recommendations for process improvements.
  • Assist in developing internal controls and testing for compliance.

People management:

Prepare annual performance review, hold regular PD chat, and ensure that the workload is balanced.

Follow up on training needs and develop a backup schedule for potential illness and vacation coverage to ensure that finance function continue to function with out interruption 

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, Big 4 experience preferred
  • Minimum of three years supervising staff
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize time and tasks according to business needs and value, avoid lowvalue add daily fire-fighting in order to hit long-term goals and objectives
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, including strong ability to understand your audience and adapt communication to this audience Ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and inspiring teams
  • Results focused, keeping an eye on the overall outcome and desired impact
