This position is responsible for projects related to support, implementations and continuous improvement of Bain’s core finance systems.  This includes legacy systems as well as systems being implemented or developed used for financial or management reporting.  Typical customers are members of the Global Finance team but also include firm management and other global departments.  The position works closely with other Financial System analysts, product owners, developers and customer stakeholders.

 

The job includes any/all tasks involved with maintaining, launching and enhancing financial systems capabilities.  Responsibilities range from monitoring system processes and spotting issues, understanding user requests, keeping backlogs, prioritizing fixes, participating in the design, configuration, testing, documenting and training of new functionality, as well as supporting current systems and processes. To be successful, this role will demonstrate an understanding of the customer needs; ability to solve problems accurately, timely and independently; professional and concise written and verbal communications to customers at all levels in the organization.

Production Support

  • Assist with ongoing system operations tasks (setting up new companies/accounts/misc. masters, maintaining security authorizations, scheduling and monitoring background jobs, etc.)
  • Field queries and provide ongoing assistance to end users through resolution
  • Investigate and resolve problems related to business process, security, integrations, etc.; escalate issues when appropriate
  • Maintain system documentation and training materials
  • Create presentations and conduct training sessions

System Improvements and Implementations

  • Partner with GFS analysts, Finance community, product managers, and developers to set priorities, configure/design solutions, test, and roll out changes
  • Elicit user requirements and help define process flows and use cases
  • Design solutions to business problems that leverage delivered functionality
  • Draft system and end user documentation/policies
  • Create presentations and perform training sessions

             

Release Management and Testing

  • Assist during data conversion and testing
  • Evaluate changes and identify potential impacts to current configuration and processes
  • Research, configure, and test new functionality; communicate system capabilities/limitations
  • Collaborate to create test plans and develop test cases/scripts
  • Conduct rigorous testing for all system changes (regression testing, validating data conversions, integrations, reports, etc.)
  • Ensure system integrity and controls with periodic testing, data checks, and user security

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or IT with high academic achievement
  • 3-5 years of progressive business systems analysis experience
  • Prior systems implementation or upgrade experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of core accounting concepts and practices and IT concepts
  • Excellent organization, logic, and analytical skills with a very strong aptitude for problem solving
  • Enthusiastic team player; productive working independently or as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for understanding and addressing customer needs; ability to work well with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to quickly grasp new technologies, tools and concepts
