Position Summary

The role is primarily responsible for owning the technology and governance of the enterprise application integrations platform at Bain. They provide technical direction to support ongoing building and integration of new API’s and incorporation into the platform. This includes engaging and working with various internal application and platform owners to integrate their systems into the platform for both custom and vendor applications, as well as ongoing investments to leverage the platforms’ capabilities over time. Additionally, they are responsible for delivering final recommendations on technology choices affecting the application integrations and participating in the architectural review board.

Technology owner for Bain’s enterprise integration platform:

  • Lead the technical implementation and ongoing support for the enterprise integration platform. Define, own and maintain the roadmap for integrating applications and systems in Bain.
  • Participate in technical planning, hands on building of API prototypes and POC’s with technical teams
  • Support the development and maintenance for existing data integrations, data exports, and other methods of data sharing to other systems and users with the goal of consolidation into the integration platform
  • Work with the business and technical teams to identify and understand data integration requirements and objectives. Help translate specific business needs into a set of technology-enabled integration capabilities. Provide a benefit analysis to application/business owners to integrate their systems into the platform (includes working with custom systems and vendor platforms)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all technology-related inquires on the integration platform. Provide technical training and support to teams and individuals on API management.
  • Assess risk exposure, volume, usage and performance of the platform and produce an assessment report twice a year
  • Create and maintain updated documentation for relevant technical configurations and processes, including an enterprise wide API catalog
  • Handle escalation of technical issues related to the platform and work across teams, IT leadership, business functions and vendors to resolve as necessary


Technology leader and member of Enterprise Architecture (EA) team:

  • As a member of the EA team, participate on the Architecture Review Board (ARB) to provide review, insight and recommendations on application integration strategies and decisions
  • Work collaboratively with other enterprise and solutions architects (cloud, data, security etc.) to ensure application integrations are cohesively implemented

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or related field of study
  • 8-10 years of experience of software development and systems implementation, including 2-3 years of experience in integration implementations
  • 5+ years of technical leadership in a large enterprise/professional services company
  • Experience in implementing API management platforms and developing enterprise scale API’s in a cloud centric environment
  • Experience using integration tools like Azure Integration Services, and other integration platforms such as Boomi, Informatica, Mulesoft, Apigee etc.
  • Experience working in an Agile and Devops environment.
  • Working experience building, implementing and/or supporting web-based applications using HTML, XML, CSS, C#, .NET, JavaScript or similar technologies.
  • Good understanding of cloud computing and experience with at least one cloud service provider.
  • Complete understanding and application of integration patterns with good knowledge of security aspects of authentication, authorization, encryption etc.
  • Strong analytical, research, problem solving and evaluative thinking skills. Ability to think long term and big picture, and to connect tactical solutions to a long-term plan.
  • Acute attention to detail and well-developed organization and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills - including ability to listen to the needs of others and comprehend complex matters, articulate issues in a clear and concise manner, and present effectively in both oral and written presentations to all levels in the organization.
