Position Summary

The APAC Accounting Manager leads a large, diverse, and international team focused on accounting for and reporting on transactions for Bain’s Asia Pacific region.


The role is detailed, organizational, and innovative:

  • Detailed: Ensuring that transactions are booked accurately and within the tight corporate deadlines
  • Organizational: Ensuring that the team and their underlying work support is optimized to cover all APAC offices
  • Operational: leading the accounting operations in New Delhi to drive efficiency and effectiveness across the organization
  • Innovative: Driving towards the future by ensuring that the technology and process improvements designed by leadership are successfully implemented. Examples include Robotic Process Automation, Artificial Intelligence, etc.



Essential Functions


APAC Operations

  • Coordinate the central processing of accounting transactions for all countries within APAC region
  • Work with local and global accounting team members to ensure a successful and timely month-end close. Additionally, work with these team members to ensure statutory accounts are compliant with local regulation as well as global policy.
  • Provide timely P&L and B/S analysis and commentary to support global and regional reporting need.
  • Ensure that items are escalated to progressive levels of management as warranted
  • Handle internal & External Audits: Support Ops Compliance / Surveillance teams to avoid audit observations and findings.
  • Calculate and review internal and external KPIs to drive towards defined benchmarks and targets – publish according to an agreed schedule
  • Determine resourcing requirements for Accounting teams
  • Provide guidance to HR team on recruiting and onboarding of new hires
  • Continuously work to maintain and improve service levels across APAC region

Operational Excellence

  • Drive operational excellence in APAC according to the global finance vision, working to identify and implement process improvement and optimization initiatives
  • Ensure that process documentation and standard operating procedures are consistently up to date.
  • Further drive process standardization and harmonization across APAC and the globe
  • Implement use cases for process automation across end-to-end process

Leadership/management responsibilities/local impact

  • Manage and supervise the Accounting staff in New Delhi
  • Provide leadership and coaching to junior team members

Professional development, recruiting & talent planning

  • Determine resourcing requirements for three-year and annual plans
  • Identify training needs of the team and working with the GBS New Delhi Finance Leader and HR to formulate a plan meet the training needs
  • In conjunction with Local HR, reinforce communication on Professional Development, Career Development and Review/Compensation processes


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Management
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in the Finance process with an excellent understanding of the shared services setup for delivery and process transformation
  • 3 years’ experience in leadership roles.
  • Managerial experience including review, professional development, business planning, etc. This experience should be in the general accounting process within a shared service environment.
  • Deep understanding of general accounting activities and streams such as CAPEX, Cost accounting, Revenue, Cash management, Balance sheet reconciliation etc.
  • Demonstrated experience resolving complex employee relations issues
  • Proven ability to successfully manage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize within a fast-paced, demanding environment.

  • MBA or Master’s Degree
  • SAP implementation and usage experience.
  • Advance knowledge of MS Excel and basis knowledge of MS Access (Visual basics) and Macros are preferred
