Position Summary

The Global Accounts Payable (“A/P”) and Time & Expenses (“T&E”) Leader leads a large, diverse, and international team focused on processing Accounts Payable and Time & Expense transactions for Bain’s global organization. This role will be responsible for monitoring and improving the Global AP and Global T&E Processes to gain efficiency and effectiveness.


This role will also ensure the function effectively mitigates risks through the establishment and maintenance of appropriate controls including segregation of duties.


The role is organizational, operational, and innovative:

  • Organizational: coordinating A/P and T&E activities across all global offices
  • Operational: helping set up and develop the A/P and T&E operations in New Delhi to help drive efficiency and effectiveness across the organization
  • Innovative: leading technology and process improvements such as RPA, AI, etc.

Essential Functions


Global Operations

  • Develops global standardized A/P and T&E process together with regional leads and project teams (e.g. SAP implementation team)
  • Develops and drives transition of A/P and T&E activities to a new hub in New Delhi supporting transactions across the various regions
  • Coordinates with other project teams on process and system interdependencies (e.g., SAP implementation team, Data & Analytics reporting team, etc.)
  • Coordinates with regional A/P and T&E Leaders to ensure invoices and expenses are processed in accordance with global policies and standards. Leads the team and manages timeliness, accuracy, and quality of processes by ensuring service delivery is at levels that meet or exceed customers' expectations
  • Ensures all month end activities are completed within agreed timeline and of the highest quality; ensures metrics are met as per agreed critical metrics / SLAs targets as applicable
  • Supports Ops Compliance / Surveillance teams to achieve zero audit observations and findings. Is extensively involved in building management action plans wherever required and applicable, requiring outstanding governance in checking for policy and practice adherence
  • Establishes and implements process control, governance risks, and compliance testing
  • Continuously works to maintain and improve service levels across all geographies
  • Works with regional A/P and T&E leaders to review the team's day to day activities, including but not limited to supplier invoicing, employee reimbursements, audit requests, analysis and other requests pertaining to the accounts payable process
  • Demonstrates lean six sigma framework to drive continuous performance improvement and drive transformation agenda
  • Establishes and reviews internal and external KPIs and drives towards defined benchmarks and targets • Provides guidance on exceptional cases and ensures escalations are handled effectively
  • Manages key stakeholders and acts as key contact person to global partners, Finance Business Partners, Office Services, etc. for A/P and T&E related issues
  • Provides insight, analytics, and consultancy relevant to A/P and T&E functions to the broader organization.


Operational Excellence:

  • Drives operational excellence, working closely with the Finance and center of excellence teams to identify and implement process improvement and optimization initiatives to achieve best in cost operations
  • Further drives process standardization across global offices
  • Identifies and develops use cases for process automation across end-toned process
  • Builds and maintains a network with peer companies and other regions globally, to stay abreast of current industry best practices and works with partners to apply these as appropriate


Leadership/management responsibilities/local impact

  • Provides leadership and coaching to junior team members
  • Integrates A/P and T&E team and other center of excellence teams through experience sharing, team events, town hall sharing, etc.
  • Supports the Global Controller and GBS Director to develop plans to enhance organization as required • Cultivates a culture of respect and teamwork spirit in which all team members can work together and be respected regardless of their differences. Ensures the team is motivated to improve both individual and team contributions.
  • Maintains and builds a relationship with internal and external stakeholders/vendors and any other third parties 20%
  • Leads internal projects and process initiatives.


Professional development, recruiting & talent planning

  • Helps determine resourcing requirements for three-year and annual plans
  • Establishes and organizes functional training programs for existing and new team members, as required
  • Provides guidance to HR team on recruiting and induction of new hires
  • In conjunction with Local and Global HR, reinforces communication on Professional Development, Career Development and Review/Compensation processes





  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Management


  • MBA or Master’s Degree
  • Financial accounting qualifications, e.g. ACCA, CPA, Institute of Financial Accountants




Required ~

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the Finance process with a focus on the Global Procure to AP / T&E domain and an excellent understanding of shared services setup and delivery and process transformation
  • 5 years’ experience in leadership roles
  • Prior experience to set up and run Global Accounts Payable or T&E as a centralized function
  • Proven ability to lead teams through process improvements and implementation of standardized processes throughout large organizations
  • Previous experience of a leading global client or internal stakeholders
  • Experience working in roles supporting global projects


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


Required ~

  • Experience in a professional services environment
  • Managerial experience including review, professional development, business planning, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience resolving complex employee relations issues
  • Experience in managing teams in a global setting
  • Proven ability to successfully manage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Deep understanding of Global finance domain: Accounts payable / T&E preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize within a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Comfort with ambiguity and willingness to embrace an iterative process
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to get stakeholder buy-in for initiatives and projects
  • Experience with Finance processes enabled by ERP and AI-based technologies Interpersonal, communication & teaming skills:

  • Ability to work effectively with partners in a global environment

Preferred ~

  • Experience in implementing lean six sigma framework
  • Proficiency with Advanced excel, Alteryx, Tableau, and BI tools is preferred
