Position Summary

 

The Enterprise Search Senior Content Specialist will support our internal efforts to optimize data and information access across Bain’s broad range of content repositories.

Bain’s Enterprise Search system allows users to search across a broad range of internal contents. It acquires a large share of its searchable content from various Bain systems (e.g. knowledge management, HR and training systems), which have their own content management teams. However, a significant and critical part of its searchable content is not available in any of these systems and is managed by the Enterprise Search team. This content is either acquired from one of many internal SharePoint pages or managed in the Enterprise Search’s content management system directly. This role will own the Enterprise Search team’s content management and will collaborate with relevant content owners and other applications’ content teams to ensure that all relevant content can be found on Bain’s Enterprise Search system.

Further this role will be responsible for search analytics which does not only provide an essential input for content management and optimization, but also is crucial for driving adoption and for identifying broader improvements for Bain’s Enterprise Search system.

Using the insights from analytics, user feedback and content work, this role will also support the development and optimization of the Enterprise Search system, e.g. through the identification and specification of new content source integrations, algorithm improvements as well as new search features and functionality.

In addition, this role will be responsible for user support and will help drive adoption by owning training materials and by supporting the Product Manager in conducting communication campaigns.

This role will report to Bain’s Enterprise Search Product Manager and will collaborate closely with other applications’ content teams and with a broad range of content owners at Bain. Further it will work with the Enterprise Search development team and its Search Specialist.

 

Essential Functions

 

Enterprise Search Analytics

  • Owns the Enterprise Search Analytics (including definition and tracking of adoption metrics by persona group)
  • Develops and maintains a deep understanding of which contents users are searching for on Bain’s Enterprise Search system (by user group)
  • Responsible for monitoring and analyzing search usage levels, patterns as well as search performance and satisfaction by user group
  • Conducts user surveys, reviews user feedback and evaluates search analytics to detect search performance and quality issues
  • Analyzes issues to identify and classify root causes to those issues; uses data-driven approach to prioritize them for resolution
  • Supports preparation of reports for executive leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
  • Proposes opportunities for continuously improving search tracking and analytics

Enterprise Search Content Management

  • Owns the Enterprise Search team’s content management
  • Optimizes metadata of managed content and synonyms to ensure that search returns all relevant content
  • Identifies and prioritizes content gaps based on search analytics, user feedback and content addition requests
  • Works with relevant content owners and other applications’ content teams to fill these gaps and to optimize the metadata of their content
  • Maintains best practices for making content available on Enterprise Search
  • Networks with key contacts across Bain (e.g. at departments, offices, initiatives, internal marketing) and educates them on best practices
  • Leads data audit for current and new content sources and ensures that content stays current and that outdated and duplicated content is removed
  • Responsible for handling all content addition requests
  • Manages featured content items (i.e. curated results for selected topics) as well as any innovative content type to be added in the future
  • Proposes improvements to the content management approach

Enterprise Search Development and Optimization

  • Identifies relevance of further system integrations for extending the searchable content
  • Helps identify opportunities for improving Enterprise Search beyond optimization of content, e.g. improvements to search algorithm and content processing, addition of new search features and functionality, UX/UI improvements as needed
  • Responsible for maintaining and continuously refining test queries and corresponding optimal results sets based on search analytics, user feedback and in collaboration with content owners (for evaluating algorithm improvements)
  • Supports product manager in developing user stories and acceptance criteria

Enterprise Search User Support and Adoption

  • Responsible for providing support to users who reach out to Enterprise Search team with questions, issues or feedback
  • Owns training and support materials for Enterprise Search users and content owners
  • Support product manager in driving adoption, e.g. planning communication campaigns and executing them with the support of TSG Communication & Adoption
  • Supports community management and leverages our existing Power User group (e.g. feedback collection, testing of new features)

General team support

Education

 

Required

  •  University or college degree.

Preferred

  • Education in business, technology, or science

Experience

Required

  • Undergraduate with 5-8+ years of experience, post graduate with 3+ years of experience with strong academic credentials
  • Experience of working in a demanding corporate environment, preferably a professional services, consulting or blue chip organization
  • Experience in analyzing data and driving data-driven insights
  • Initial experiences in managing broad range of company internal stakeholder (e.g. as part of project management).

Preferred

  • Experience with enterprise search (or other systems that search a variety of content repositories and types; incl. slides and websites).
  • Exposure to one or more of the following disciplines: consulting, knowledge management, product development, and/or project management.
  • Experience in customer service.

  • Bright – insightful, creative, with strong problem-solving skills, and pragmatic, practical, “real-world” sense of what is actually do-able. Possesses an affinity for data-driven insights to making decisions
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and

Preferred

  • Interest or prior experience in enterprise search is a plus
  • Experience with SharePoint, Alteryx and Tableau is a ‘nice to have’
  • Experience with modern search engines, e.g. Elastic or Coveo would be considered a plus
