Reporting to Manager, TSG Infrastructure Operations Center, the Associate Systems Administrator will be responsible for monitoring and escalation management in Bain IT operations with an opportunity to work with a wide variety of technologies, including AWS/Azure Cloud, VMware virtualization, Windows servers, SAN storage, Anti-Virus, Backup, ServiceNow and Disaster Recovery tools to name a few. The Associate Systems Administrator will support the mission of the Infrastructure Operation center team to deliver secure, reliable, consistent and scalable services to our customers for systems on-premise and in Cloud. This will involve monitoring systems, running reports, and remediating problems as directed by team members. This individual also ensures that system hardware, firmware, operating systems, and software adhere to organizational standards, with a primary focus on ensuring consistency and security through patch application and management. The successful candidate will be expected to perform system implementations and patching/upgrades that may occur after regular business hours as required and will participate in a rotating 5-day work-week schedule that will include some Saturdays to minimize the business impact of maintaining a critical 24x7 infrastructure.

  • Server Builds and Decommissions -  Deploy/QA new servers, Decommission unused servers, Maintain accurate inventory, Advise on ways to improve existing procedures and scripts
  • Manage Alerts - Ensure the health of our monitoring systems, including Microsoft Operations Manager, Orion, VMware, and other monitoring tools, Respond to alerts, ServiceNow tickets, and requests in a timely fashion, following proper escalation procedures as needed
  • Systems Maintenance - Perform vulnerability remediation on all systems; patching systems, and following prescribed processes and procedures for testing and applying firmware/driver updates to servers and systems worldwide, Create reports on compliance, Proactively report on important updates applicable to our environment and suggest plans for implementation
  • System Backup and Data Protection - Monitor backup consoles for failed jobs and execute remediation plans. Monitor and ensure compliance against recovery SLAs, Manage backup/restore procedures when requested from Local/Regional/Global TSG Support, Perform backup recovery and disaster recovery tests as scheduled

  • Bachelor’s degree with a demonstrated interest in technology, technology issues, and analytical analysis
  • Vendor Certifications a plus: Azure, AWS, VMware, ServiceNow
  • 1.5 to 2.5 years of experience in a world-class help desk or other IT support position
  • Experience with data center operations
  • Experience with infrastructure and application monitoring tools such as DataDog, Ops Manager is preferred
  • Experience with service management and incident response systems such as Service Now and PagerDuty is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to learn quickly
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Practical problem solving and troubleshooting skillsStrong written and verbal communications skills
  • Vendor Certifications (Cloud certifications, Microsoft certifications,ServiceNow etc.) are a plus
  • Knowledge of scripting tools (PowerShell, Ansible)
  • Practical knowledge of administering server technologies (Microsoft Windows, RedHat Linux, etc)
  • Experience with VMWare vSphere, AWS, and Azure
  • Practical knowledge of server backup methodologies and technology is preferred
