Department Overview:


The Reporting and Analytics CoE is an integral part of Bain’s global PPK group (Product, Practice and Knowledge). The team is responsible for bringing various functional reporting pieces under one umbrella to provide integrated and centralized reporting to practices, reducing duplication of efforts.

Position Summary:

 

The Reporting & Analytics Sr. Specialist (GCO) position is based at Bain’s Gurgaon BCN office and is an integral part of the Reporting & Analytics CoE. The team-let is responsible to support Global Commercial Operations team with its mission to take firm’s commercial operations capabilities to the next level, with the ambition of raising partner productivity and transforming how Bain creates and captures demand for its products and sells impactful, scale engagements at its most important clients.

The role is highly analytic and requires comfort with (and interest in) manipulating and pulling insights from complex data sets using analytical tools like Excel and Alteryx and creating compelling visualizations either in PowerPoint or Tableau. We are looking for someone who is perpetually curious; eager to learn our business, understand and question the underlying data and enhance our tools and processes.  

The major responsibilities of the Sr. Specialist role include:

  • Own and drive the analytics associated with various commercial operations work streams either as short duration projects or standalone analysis
  • Deep application of Data Visualization and Data Analysis (EDA) tools like Alteryx, Tableau, to support a range of industry and capability Practice areas with analysis of KPIs and preparation of commercial dashboards based on Bain data sources and processes
  • Specialist is responsible to understand the context of stakeholder requests and create practical and targeted solutions, leveraging data and analytical tools. He also leads work-planning for the assigned work-stream, managing work-plans for junior team members
  • Provides high impact support to stakeholders by demonstrating ability to effectively communicate insights on work-stream and analysis to stakeholders and also ensure timely, high quality , zero – defect analysis and output produced by junior team members
  • The person should be a motivated and collaborative team player, who is a role-model and at-cause individual within the team and office

·  Expertise of revenue, pipeline, staffing and other Bain data sources to resolve complex requests

·  Understand context of client requests and create practical and targeted solutions, leveraging data and analytical tools

·  Create project delivery roadmap in consultation with team leadership

·  Lead work-planning (outcomes and timelines) for the assigned projects; manage work-plans for assigned team members

·  Monitor and manage workload and resolving overloads

·  Effectively communicate with stakeholders and manage meetings, who are senior Bain audience around the world, to deliver clear and professional presentations

·  Ensuring zero-defect in all deliverables and overseeing production of research and commercial reports and dashboards, ensuring timely, high quality, zero-defect analysis and output, as per agreed SLAs

·   Understand stakeholder needs and situations and adapt to project expectations; show ability to resolve complex issues across work streams.

Qualifications:

 

Education

Degree level and area of specialization needed for the performance of this role’s Essential Functions

Required: First class undergraduate/postgraduate from leading and reputed colleges

 

Preferred: Concentration in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics, Business Analytics, or Market Research is strongly preferred

Experience

Typical number of years/type of experience

Include the required number of years of overall experience as well as years of experience in a particular function (if applicable).

Required:

• 6-8 years (graduates)/4-6 years (postgraduates) of relevant experience working with large, multi-national organization or

• Understanding of the research/consulting business environment, language, and processes

Preferred:

• 4-6 year (post-graduates) of relevant experience working with large, multi-national organization

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Include specialized background and key competencies needed to perform the role.

Required:

• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint required along with working knowledge of data analytics software such as Alteryx, Tableau etc. as well as passion for automation of processes/reporting using these tools

• Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

 

Preferred:

• Working knowledge of data analytics software such as Alteryx, Tableau etc. as well as passion for automation of processes/reporting using these tools

• Ability to prioritize projects, manage multiple competing priorities and drive projects to completion under tight deadlines
