Position Summary:

This is an opportunity to be a part of Bain’s Financial Services, Centre of Expertise (CoE) team, based out of Gurugram office. The FS CoE team supports the global FS practice area leadership team with research and analytics, to help produce the annual IP publications, reports and point-of-views. In addition, the team also helps global Bain case teams and client development teams with specific work-stream on the case or tasks originating out of the annual IP work.

As an Associate, you will lead team of analysts / associates to produce client-ready research and analysis, generating sound hypotheses, strong business insights and understanding implications. You will be responsible for generating industry insights with key focus on payments sector and provide useful inputs on related dimensions. You will work under the guidance of a Manager / Sr. Manager, playing a key role in driving the team’s overall answer and final materials, client communication and work planning.

Core Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead a team of Analysts to execute the case
  • Understand client needs and situations and adapt to case expectations. Show ability to resolve discrete issues and/or drive consensus
  • Take responsibility for assigned work streams and generate hypotheses. Effectively understand the work plan and execute it
  • Identify and apply the relevant analytical tools for own work stream. Ensure high quality analysis in own work stream ensuring key questions are answered in a timely manner
  • Communicate data, knowledge and insights to the entire team. Generate and screen realistic solutions based on sound reality checks and recommend actionable solutions
  • Understand client needs and situations and adapt to case expectations. Show ability to resolve discrete issues and/or drive consensus
  • Effectively structure communication of insights from own work stream. Deliver clear and professional presentations to the team/team leaders/managers
  • Build client-ready visualization dashboards using tools such as Tableau
  • Consistently seek and provide responsible feedback in all interactions; recognize different skills and development needs in oneself

Qualification:

  • Candidate should be a graduate/post-graduate
  • Experience and passion to work in Financial services esp. Payments / FinTech sector, with strong knowledge of the sector (in terms of market size, opportunities, growth focus, etc.)
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in a Payments / FinTech related field along with consulting exposure
  • Exceptional analytical & technical skills and knowledge of financial / market research tools, with strong ability to provide actionable insights from financial data
  • Knowledge of player/industry benchmarking and data modelling along with deep understanding of sector-specific financial and digital metrics
  • Experience in developing sector POVs covering recent trends, disruptions in the industry, understanding market position of top players in different geographies and delivering audience-right high-quality presentations
  • Team player with an entrepreneurial mindset, proactive and keen to bring new ideas
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Proven self-starter with demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of any visualization tools or languages such as Alteryx, Tableau and Python/R would be a plus
